Today's blog post honestly could've been directed at me (maybe that's why I'm writing it, because I need to read it as much as everyone else!).
We spend so much of our lives waiting.
Waiting for the weekend.
Waiting for wealth.
Waiting for happiness.
But in all of this waiting, we lose sight of what is happening in the present moment. We miss out on the opportunities that are in the here and now.
If we spent half of our mental energy focusing on the what we have in this very moment, we would be very different, and much happier, people.
You see, we can't base our lives around waiting for what we perceive will make us happy (money, the weekend, the perfect body, etc). If we choose to do this, we'll waste our lifetime waiting.
Instead, if you want something, you have to chase after it. You have to take the initiative and the action steps in this present moment to help ensure you will end up where you want to be.
Now, I don't mean to apply this to waiting for God's plan to unfold for us. We can still be waiting and watching God's plan unfold for us while still taking action in our lives to lead a life that brings us joy and happiness.
Because waiting for that joy and happiness will only bring you sorrow because it means you are trying to place that joy and happiness in things of the future, in things of this world.
But if you seize the moment, seize the day, you will find that you become and achieve what you've been waiting for in the first place.
What are you waiting for?
