BeautyCounter Review

Since changing my diet to more of a real-food based template about three and a half years ago, I've decided that it's time to start making changes in other areas of my life - specifically in the products I'm putting on my skin! Our skin is our largest organ. You wouldn't think about eating some of your beauty products, but you put them on your skin everyday. It's basically the same thing!

Once I came to this realization, I decided it was time to start switching to more natural skincare products. A ton of the bloggers that I follow in the real-food/paleo world were into BeautyCounter products, so I decided to finally give them a shot about seven months ago (right before Christmas).

Now, I am hooked! I slowly switched over my regular products to those from BeautyCounter (BC). I'm not 100% switched over yet, but as I finish one of my regular products, I look for something similar to order from BC.

What I love most about BC is their commitment to not use some of the toxic chemicals that are outlawed in beauty products in other countries but not in the USA. You can read more about what they do and don't put in their products here.

Here are several of my favorite products, as well as the products that are on my wish list (hint hint if you are looking for a gift to get me! Totally kidding of course....)

No. 3 Balancing Facial Mask (also known as the charcoal mask)

This was the product I had my eye on for months before I finally ordered it. I use it twice a week on my entire face and as an overnight spot treatment on acne. It really helps even and balance my skin out and leave it feeling purified!

Charcoal Cleansing Bar

This was the second product I purchased, and I use it twice a day (morning and evening) as the cleanser for my skin. Again, it leaves my skin feeling purified but not overly dry.

Daily Shampoo and Conditioner

Let it be clear that I do NOT use these everyday (I'm lucky if I wash my hair twice a week!), but they do work so well. I have a lot of hair, and I was worried about switching from my Garnier shampoo and conditioner that I had used for over four years. However, the switch was easy and I noticed a huge difference in how my hair looks and feels. I cannot recommend these two enough.

Citrus Mimosa Hand Cream

I just ran out of this hand lotion (which I also used on my whole body....don't hunt me down!), and need to reorder soon. It leaves my skin moisturized but not greasy, which I love!

My Wish List:

These are the products I'm eyeing for my next round of purchases:

Balancing Facial Mist

CounterMatch Adaptive Moisture Lotion

Protect All Over Sunscreen

Have you switched to safer skincare options? If so, what have you tried? If not, what's holding you back? Remember, your skin is your largest organ and absorbs everything!

xoxo Olivia
