My Favorite Things - June

It's been a while since I've posted a "My Favorite Things" roundup. The past few months have flown by, and I'm starting to realize that the year is almost half over. How is that possible?! I've recently been doing some reading about the phenomenon of busy-ness and how it keeps us from fully enjoying and experiencing life. There's no time like the present to try and be more focused on the present and enjoy every day as the second half of the year quickly approaches! So without further ado, here are a few of my favorites from the past few months!

1. Walks Outside

Although this year it was nice enough to walk outside back in February, I was able to take a few walks outside during April and May and soak up the wonderful sunshine and Vitamin D. There's something about going out for a walk (and not one for exercise necessarily either) that clears the mind and refreshes the soul. I usually listen to podcasts on my walk just for something to listen to, but oftentimes, I find my mind wandering to another place. Nature has a wonderful way of doing that for us all!

2. Kale

About two or three years ago, I went on a huge kale kick. We grew it in our garden a couple of summers, and I ate it every day at lunch. I simply sauteed it in coconut oil with salt and bit of garlic and let it get a little crispy. So good! Since then, I've fallen away from that daily practice. However, kale was on sale this week at the grocery store, so I bought it and cooked it using that same old technique. It was amazing! I have a feeling kale has made its way back into my regular routine for good this time! I can't wait until I can have my own garden and plant my own vegetables again.

3. Parks and Recreation

Let's just say that I'm obsessed - that will suffice here! But in all seriousness, I finished up The Office a few weeks ago and had been told by several friends that Parks and Rec needed to be next on the my list. I was skeptical at first, but that quickly passed after I powered through season 1 (which was rough but necessary to lay the groundwork for the show) and have been watching it daily ever since! I love the mixture of characters and different types of humor. I'm constantly laughing out loud loudly (my poor neighbors!). I'm not ready to say it's better than The Office (not sure if that's possible), but it is pretty hilarious!

4. Acupuncture

I started receiving acupuncture treatments probably four or five months ago, but it's been recently that I've really noticed how beneficial they have been for my health and life. I am literally forced to lay still for about 40 minutes and just focus on breathing and relaxing while the needles work their magic. It's a practice I've come to look forward to because I know how wonderful I'll feel afterward.

And now that spring has (almost) come and gone, June is here and summer is fast approaching. I can't wait to spend more time outside on my porch, out on walks in the sun, and simply relaxing with a good book. Cheers to a wonderful summer!

How was your spring? What are you looking forward to the most this summer?

xoxo Olivia
