My Favorite Things: January 2017

I am asked quite often about certain brands or products that I recommend, especially when it comes to certain food items. Today, I’m sharing all of those items with you that I have especially loved in January (which is almost over already and that is just completely crazy…).

So, without further ado, my favorite things for January!

Food:

Larabars – these bars have the simplest ingredient lists and contain a great mixture of carbs and fat for the perfect snack. My favorite variety is the Cashew Cookie made with only cashews and dates. You can find them online, HyVee, Target, Fresh Thyme, Whole Foods, and more!

Simple Mills – this brand of gluten free mixes is simply a life changer! The ingredient lists are simple and clear, and you only add a few other ingredients to make the mixes come to life! I have only tried the Artisan Bread mix so far (because it doesn’t contain any added sugar), and I am in love. Any of the varieties would be great options to try.

Butternut Squash – this simple food is in season right now, and I am loving making butternut squash puree each week (see my recipe that I posted a few weeks ago!). It is simple to cook in my Instant Pot (see below for the full details) and can be frozen as well – if it lasts that long before being eaten!

Kitchen Items:

Instant Pot – this single gadget has changed my life and time spent in the kitchen! The Instant Pot is an all in one pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, and more. I only have used it for the pressure cooker aspect so far, but it has cut so much time from my weekly prep. I can stick huge chunks of vegetables in there and in just a few minutes, they are tender and ready to be pureed. Or, I can cook a whole chicken in under and an hour and make homemade broth in under 3 hours (compared to 3 days!). I can’t recommend it enough – it is worth the investment!

TV and Movies:

When Calls the Heart – I absolutely love this series, and I don’t know how I’m going to wait until February 19th when the next season debuts on Hallmark. The show is about a rich school teacher that moves to a small coal mining town in the 1910s and truly makes an impact on the people and finds herself along the way too. It’s a wholesome show with a little bit of romance, and I can’t recommend it enough!

Beauty Items:

Beauty Counter Charcoal Mask – this mask is amazing. Enough said. If I feel or have a breakout, this mask helps calm my skin and nip the breakout right away before it gets out of hand. It even seems to work overnight! I use it 2-3 times a week and as a spot treatment when needed.

What are you into this month? Any new products that have come your way? Share in the comments or on Facebook!

xoxo Olivia
