Happy New Year

Can you believe it? 2016 is here! Every year seems to go by faster and faster; I can hardly keep up anymore!

One year ago, I was about to start my second to last semester at UNL, and I was still struggling with the idea of changing my approach to fitness and nutrition and my career path. Within the past year, I’ve changed my career path, started (heavy!) strength training, and finally became 100% Paleo. I also graduated from college, started the health coaching program through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, and moved into a new apartment. All I can say is, “Wow!” and “Thank you God for an incredible year!”

Now that 2015 is in the books, it’s time to consider my aspirations for 2016:

  1. Have a successful semester (meaning I have at least two participants per class) of teaching group fitness classes and be hired for the summer semester.

  2. Host and teach a least five nutrition and health seminars by the end of 2016.

  3. Complete my first full Crossfit WOD RX (which means as written without having to drop down to a lower weight or rep count).

  4. Find a health coaching job (even if it is part time) that allows me to help others reach their health and wellness goals.

  5. Deadlift and squat about 1.5 - 2 times my approximate bodyweight for at least 1 repetition (I say approximate because I refuse to weigh myself and could care less what the number says anyway. That's a post for another day!)

  6. Attend one retreat, seminar, or conference that will increase my spiritual life.

Of course, there are many, many, many more goals I have for 2016, but this is a small sampling. Basically, I want to stay on my current path by continuing my education through IIN, increasing my strength through Crossfit and strength training, and expanding my spiritual life.

What are your goals for the New Year? How can you make them SMART and sustainable? Don’t worry, I’ve got plenty of posts about habits, health, and happiness that will be of great assistance as we kick off the New Year. 2016 is going to be an amazing year for growth, learning, and new opportunities!
