Five Friday Favorites
What a week it’s been.

For those of you who might be out of the college loop schedule, it is officially dead week, a week when supposedly, students aren’t supposed to have assignments due in their classes so that they can focus on studying for their exams. While this “rule” has been stretched over the past few years, I really haven’t felt its effects in all of my years at UNL. I’ve developed a skillset of time management skills that have helped me remain alive during dead week.
So instead of a stressful dead week, I’ve had a long, somewhat boring “is graduation here yet???” week. The countdown is 8 days as of today!
Anyway, onto the post: my Five Friday Favorites for this week (hey, two weeks in a row!)
The weather - It has been in the 60s all week. The sun has been shining, and it has been glorious! Wednesday I took a long walk around campus. I haven’t been able to do that in probably a month, and it was much needed.
Resistance bands – I recently purchased a pack of 2” wide, flat resistance bands that are circular. I slip them onto my legs (about mid-thigh level) when I’m doing squats or glute bridges. They take training to a new level by adding a higher degree of difficulty.
Crossfit – I had yet another amazing Crossfit workout last Saturday, which included overhead squats, pushups, and box jumps. The overhead squats are a great full body exercise that killed my core! I can’t wait to go back to Crossfit tomorrow and start training there more often in the New Year.
HyVee fuel saver – I’ve never had a need to use this program before, but I’ve always thought it was an amazing idea: buy groceries, save money on gas. A win win! Now that I’ll be living near a HyVee, I decided to stop by and check out their organic section and sign up for a fuel saver card. I won’t be buying all of my groceries there next year, but I will definitely be buying enough to make my gas bill lower!
Leg day – I love lifting on leg day. Squats, deadlifts, glute bridges, I love them all! After I leave the gym on leg day, I have an air of confidence that is hard to bring down. Maybe it’s because I can lift a decent amount of weight on leg day because my leg muscles are larger and more powerful than my upper body muscles. Either way, yay for leg day!
What’s on my agenda for this coming week? Two finals, work, moving out of my dorm, and GRADUATION!
I. Can’t. Wait.
